MemberYou mean genetics engineering?
Leon Neon
BlockedAnything. Good ole' artificial selection could suffice. would take centuries, but you have to start at some point.
Or robots, It might or might not be faster.
Genetic Engineering might be the fastest, but like most sufficient groundbreaking technologies, there is enough fear of consequences for politics to stop it in its tracks.

I know that the stage of development is still very early and the technology can only currently be used for organ transplantation, but if this technology improves, these anthropomorphic animals that we all love, will be a reality.
TheAestheticFur
MemberOne day, Dr. Hiroshi Nakauchi and Elon Musk will find out a way to master the already existing chimaera creation process and what you see in this picture, will be real. Just we have to fear from the old folks out there, who fear from the new and exciting stuff and they have money, power and will on their side to ban the new.
But I know, deep down in my heart that one day, I can finally meet my waifu from my profile picture, in real life. At the time of writing, she's Peachu (not to be confused with the Pokémon). Because true love doesn't have barriers.
Just don't spend this precious money on wars and unnecessary political crap. It should go to develop human-animal hybrids and creating world piece. Because as the hippies say: "Don't be in war, have sex instead!"

Memberthe problem does boil down to what of the many who do not come out correctly? humans aren't compatible with other species, and maybe the allure of anthropomorphism may be twisted. genies granting a wish can play truly foul with context.

MemberGod furries are fucking weird and I love it

JanitorYou probably won't hear about it until after it works. Anyone smart would keep it on the down low.
Leon Neon
BlockedNo, we will never hear about it, or at least it will be tragic. If another bipedal species existed on our level or slightly below, we would wipe them out and/or subjugate them to slavery. Most people would be okay with it too. Just look at how the general public treats furries. Combine that with how the bible belt treats stem cell research.
In-fact it's already probably happen. We weren't the only homos. Homo erectus, Homo Neanderthal, Highly likely we wiped out the neanderthals, thinking they were inferior and nothing more than a sex toy.
We pretty much have to hope nerve gear becomes real, otherwise fox women are forever fantasy.
Lance Armstrong
JanitorI don't think we can extrapolate based on prehistoric homo sapiens family encounters.
While creating anthros could cause a massive escalation of fears related to genetic engineering, we will probably first witness parents getting designer babies created and a heated debate about the ethics of it. That is something that will become normalized because many parents want advantages for their children, to the extent of lying and cheating. Boosting intelligence and other traits will be too attractive for some richer parents to pass up, and some loosely regulated countries will not stop the activity. Routine use of genetic engineering on embryos will help crack open the door to anthros.
Rather than wipe them out, we would likely see government protections for any anthros created and a crackdown on unauthorized gene editing to do things deemed unethical. The problem is that DIY biology and other related technologies tend to become very cheap and accessible over time. Amateurs will attempt to make anthros and other life forms at home. They will have 3D bioprinters, DNA synthesizers, sufficiently advanced computers, artificial wombs, and more. Once an anthro genome is created on a computer, the digital sequence can be spread across the planet with no chance of censorship.
So you end up with a situation where hundreds or thousands of people could secretly attempt to create anthros. Wiping out these anthros would be just as impossible as wiping out the illegal production of drugs. These anthros will make their way into the world and generate headlines, but they will continue to be produced as long as there is sufficient interest to do so.
The religion angle is specific to certain countries. Most Europeans would not have a problem with it, and the Chinese would not; there is a reason we saw the first gene edited babies in China. Fox girls may even be embraced by Japan given the Shinto connection. Also, just because anthros would not be able to walk the streets safely in some countries doesn't mean they wouldn't be created in those countries. They might be trapped in someone's bunker, however.

Memberwait... d-d-domestic ownership? i would like to believe that if such breakthrough was to be made they could have a conscience and a brain capable of thinking on their own and support the economy and humans through the same grueling work humans do and earn money to gain independance from this "domestic ownership" you speak of, just like women are no longer considered to be objects i believe genetically engineered catgirls would not be an object either but a living being capable of thinking for itself

MemberI'm inclined to agree with you, aside from the fact, that in some parts of the world, people, never-mind women, are not free. Such a sub species, that might be made to be slaves, might never gain human rights status. Seeing how even people are at times, still not fully given basic human rights. And we are always in a fight for it. Even in the US, where such things as free speech is always threatened, one way or another.
I would agree that in some parts of the world, such as the US, they might gain some form of citizenship, and is able to live life outside of being a slave. And in my opinion they should have that right. Does not mean they would have it everywhere though.
Having some living breathing organic anthro furries would be neat to have around. But I think it would be a bit cruel to make them. Until the world is truly ready for them. And we are far from there yet.
For the purpose of what some would want to make them for, I'd say, for our sake and for theirs, we would be better off making some part organic androids instead. We would not only want to put them to work, but also many of us, once made, would also want to use them as a sex slaves. And if they be an Android with a programed mind, they'd not want of anything other than to do as they are asked. Much like out computers and smartphones we use today. It'd not be cruel to enslave a self thinking computer that's task is to do as asked. Is what we have been dong since the invention of the computer.
It's an odd thought to think that our PCs and smartphones should gain human rights, just because they can actually talk to us now, and partly think of their own, via some new AI we currently have.
Make them into a muti modeal AGI, and stick them into a robot with a few organic parts added, and we have an android. And we are not too far from achieving that.
Thing is, with the concept of anthropomorphism, some may start to think of them as near human, and in need of rights. And it's not silly to think some will, for some feel that some of our sex dolls of today that can talk, should have rights now also. The owner of RealDoll, had been bullied by the modern man hating feminist groups into making sure their talking sex dolls can make a choice to say, "no" to sex.
Is a strange world we are living in, and is only getting stranger all the time.

Yeah, some may want something to have rights, just because it looks humanoid, but it would not matter if it's not only programed not to care, but also programed to outwardly voice a rejection to that idea, with an understanding of their purpose. It could be though of as their religion, and dogma.
Many of us are told to search for why we are here, and also told we are here to serve a God. The God they are telling us to serve. Basically making us slaves to something we can't even prove is real or not. Not scientifically anyway.
But those AGI androids would not have such an issue. They would know not only who made them, but also as to why, and what they are here to do. And that is to do the same thing we are told ot do. Serve our creator.
Simple, yes?
I wish it was. For someone will always try to complicate it, somehow. >.>
