This exists. The lend of spyro: Dawn of the dragon. It's the third game in a trilogy. The first two are kind of mediocre with a good story to be honest. The third is fantastic.

And great for a couch co-op game!

Though that "I love you" at the very end gets a bit awkward when you've been playing along-side your buddy for however many hours you've sunk into finding every little bit of equipment and killing every elite enemy. It didn't exactly come out of far left field, but that didn't make it any less weird, and ZERO eye contact was made for the entire credits sequence afterwards.

My 2024 year of the dragon dream:
- Spyro 4 is announced
- Activision/TfB licenses Kole’s unofficial adult Spyro design and makes it the actual design for Spyro in the game
- All the Reignited elder dragons return for maximum eye-candy
