MemberFor those not in the know, Pepe the Frog is a character from Matt Furie's comic 'Boy's Club'. After the character ascended into a massive widely-known meme, with even Hillary Clinton herself getting involved by misunderstanding Pepe as a 'racist symbol', Matt Furie was devastated.
He drew a comic strip depicting Pepe's funeral. Feels bad, man.

MemberIt should be noted that the memetic Pepe is nothing like his comic prototype. The comic Pepe was neither sad nor smug and the comic definitely wasn't political. Now everyone associates the famous memetic Pepe (mostly a *chan creation) with Matt Furie. Like, oh hey it's Matt who created that alt-right frog. Turns out Matt is not particularly happy about that.

SwiperTheFox
MemberThe Pepe situation is at a way lower level but still weirdly similar to what happened with the Buddhist swastika. That other term meant (and still means) spiritual harmony and oneness to the point that it's basically the exact antithetical opposite to the sword-waving Christian crusader ethos of fascism. And yet the militant groups basically stole the symbol in popular culture, at least somewhat. And it comes again full circle.
The Masked Newfag
BlockedJust for clarity's sake, the Nazis used the version of the swastika that represents 'power', not the one for spiritual harmony (one of them goes clockwise, the other goes counterclockwise. Unfortunately, I don't remember which is which).
Muh Soggy Knee
MemberHow can you not know which is which if you know the one used by Nazi's is the one for power?
The Masked Newfag
BlockedI read a history article once that said there are two kinds of swastika: It said that one facing one direction represented power and was the form used by the Nazis, and the other faced the opposite direction and represented peace and spiritual harmony. All I remember is that the article said the Nazis used the version representing power. I don't remember which form of the swastika it said that was. Why does it matter to you? ',:|
Muh Soggy Knee
MemberThe Nazi swastika is clockwise. A simple search would tell you this. 卐
The Masked Newfag
BlockedA simple search becomes excessively complicated when you're using a very basic browser, that often can barely support one tabbed webpage, on a 5-year-old smartphone that has an increasingly frequent habit of crashing the apps it's running when its RAM becomes even slightly overtaxed.
This REALLY isn't worth getting this worked up about. I offered a simple factoid. I'm not under any obligation to clarify every single goddamn part of it. Just look at it and move on. Jesus...

BlockedThat moment when you think the nazi swastika meant power, and it's the harmony version they picked.
Why would they pick a weird symbol if it meant something as hamfisted as "hurr durr power hunger"? There's even old samurai suits depicting a kamon that uses the same version used by the nazis, I doubt a japanese feudal clan would like their family emblem to mean "we lust for power" instead of "we strive for harmony".
The Masked Newfag
BlockedThat would be the "barely one tabbed page" said browser is capable of supporting. It can't handle a search page on top of that.
Since you've pigheadedly ignored the hints I've been dropping at you, allow me to spell this out bluntly: I'M NOT OBLIGATED TO OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL EXPLANATION TO THE FACTOID I POINTED OUT IN MY ORIGINAL COMMENT, AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL CHANGE MY OPINION ON THE SUBJECT, SO SHADDAP AND DROP IT ALREADY.

MemberThat's like saying "Desani bottled water, not bottled water." Catholicism is a brand of Christianity, just like Protestantism, which branched out from Catholicism. Besides that, back when the crusades happened, there was no Protestantism. Besides, back before the Protestant Reformation, throughout Europe Christianity was Catholicism.

BlockedPepe's been pretty much reclaimed by leftist streamers, now. Ben Garrison's essentially a demented dork who is equally laughable as he is terrifying. A lot has happened since then and I hope we're not as naive anymore.
