This kind of art is completely subject to the artis's whim - moreso than just about every other style/genre. There is no "accurate" or "inaccurate" unless the intention is to recreate something that already exists.

Look up blue tailed skink, it's a real animal. It's pretty much the same thing as this but in reverse, with the tail being green and body being blue, so it's not as unrealistic as you think.
