Help: Flag For Deletion

← E621 WikiFlagging

Artists! If you are the artist/copyright holder of art on this site and you want it removed, go here instead of flagging it for deletion.

How to Flag For Deletion

1. Click "flag for deletion" on a post page.
2. Select the appropriate reason from the list. If you are linking to another post (as in the event of a repost), please make sure you get the post number correct!
 - If there are multiple fitting options pick the uppermost, correct option.
3. Press the OK button.
4. The post then gets sent to the moderation queue as flagged for deletion, where the post you flagged and the reason you flagged it for are added to the list of posts to be reviewed by the approvers of the site.
5. The post is either deleted or approved (or reapproved, if the post has been approved before) by an approver.

Flag Reasons

  • "Does not meet the uploading guidelines"

This post fails to meet the site's standards, be it for artistic worth, image quality, relevancy, or something else.
Keep in mind that your personal preferences have no bearing on this. If you find the content of a post objectionable, simply blacklist it.

  • "Young human-like character in an explicit situation"

Posts featuring human and human-like characters depicted in a sexual or explicit nude way, are not acceptable on this site.

  • "The artist of this post is on the avoid posting list"

Certain artists have requested that their work is not to be published on this site, and were granted Do Not Post status.
Sometimes, that status comes with conditions; see conditional_dnp for more information.

  • "Paysite, commercial, or subscription content"

We do not host paysite or commercial content of any kind. This includes Patreon leaks, reposts from piracy websites, and so on. Please note that this does not include promotional material which has been published by the original artist.

  • "Trace of another artist's work"

Images traced from other artists' artwork are not accepted on this site. Referencing from something is fine, but outright copying someone else's work is not.
Please leave more information in the comments, or simply add the original artwork as the posts's parent if it's hosted on this site.

  • "Previously deleted"

Posts usually get removed for a good reason, and reuploading of deleted content is not acceptable.
Please leave more information in the comments, or simply add the original post as this post's parent.

  • "Real-life pornography"

Posts featuring real-life pornography are not acceptable on this site. No exceptions. This includes any human or animal nudity.
Note that images featuring non-erotic photographs are acceptable.

  • "File is either corrupted, broken, or otherwise does not work"

Something about this post does not work quite right. This may be a broken video, or a corrupted image.
Either way, in order to avoid confusion, please explain the situation in the comments.

  • "Duplicate or inferior version of another post"

A superior version of this post already exists on the site.
This may include images with better visual quality (larger, less compressed), but may also feature "fixed" versions, with visual mistakes accounted for by the artist.
Note that edits and alternate versions do not fall under this category.

If the issue does not fall under one of the above categories, then it is likely not a valid reason to flag the post. Consider reporting the post instead for issues such as tag vandalism or description abuse.

Please Note:

  • Things you flag, even with a valid reason, will not always get removed.
  • If a post has been flagged for deletion or even deleted, do not strip its tags. This is never acceptable, and is tag vandalism which will result in disciplinary action.
  • Do not flag images for deletion for an unfitting reason! If the reason you want something deleted for is not on the list then DO NOT flag it!

Use your blacklist if you do not want to see certain types of content!

Lastly, as a courtesy to the mods and other users around you, please use the parenting system to link variants/duplicate posts together. The proper technique is to parent the image you are flagging for deletion if there is already a better or inferior version of the post on e621. We ask this because if the image you flagged gets deleted, then one, it's easier to access the better version if someone was already looking at the deleted version; and two, everyone who added the version that got deleted to their favorites list is automatically transferred to the the newer version so it stays in their faves list. Thank you. More information on how to do this can be found here.
