I saw that spots is a character tag with almost 3000 images and nearly as many characters

You know you can just fix it right?
I already did, but you could have just as easily.

Just go to any image tagged with the incorrectly categorized tag, and add a general: in front of the tag in the edit box.

I had no clue which one was supposed to be the character, and aren't members restricted to changing tag types with fewer than ten images?

If there's a character out there named spots, it should be tagged as spots_(character) or with a specific artist/owner in the () if there's multiple.

I dunno which is the character either, but trying to sort it out of 3000 images is unfeasible.
