Okay, since there's been a lot of outright FFD abuse lately, I suggest that Flag For Deletion be made a privileged user and above privilege. If a normal user sees a repost, we have an IRC channel and moderator PMs exist.

Out of curiosity, how many false flags are there compared to valid flags in a day? If this is becoming a problem, it might be more easily addressed by adding a multiple choice "Why?" question when something is flagged. Duplicates and DNP violations could be more readily sifted by the mods, while people flagging it for "I don't like it" could be ignored with ease.

Awesome, I'll not care about the site if it'll bring that attitude.

I think it's a good idea. It would practically eliminate unnecessary flagging. One problem being that fewer reposts would be caught. Maybe. Another being that artists registered wouldn't be able to flag their own images, but they'd still be able to pm Char.

Also, crippling the site's functionality for responsible, trustworthy, helpful members just because of a few members who decide to abuse the FFD for whatever reasons they may have is unfair.

Plus it kind of ruins the whole hidden function of FFD; weeding out dumb users that misuse tools so they can be banned.

This was honestly the first thing that came to my mind too. :x

Anyways, I haven't heard that FFD abuse has become an unbearable problem, so I think we're fine for now.

Char, the amount of stupid deletion requests we get has become unbearable to deal with. I request we remove the FFD and takedown request functions completely.

seriously if users want to be dumbass's and FFD abuse, then let them its just going to get them banned, then that is 1 less idiot that the admins, and Mods have to worry about

Definitely. I caught and flagged a number of reposts that I found just rambling around through the forest of dicks and mountains of tits that is e621. Not like a lot or anything, but a handful.

Lol. Yes and no. It's likely that a lot of them only abuse the FFD. So a lot of those users may just not show up, except perhaps in comments where they probably already issue proclamations of their dismay. However, remove the FFD outlet for them and they may come flooding to the Forum for a million more "WTF Ponies" threads.

Remove them entirely? I think that's a bad idea.

Why not limit it to one a day? Put it on a graduated scale for the membership levels? Unless all member groups only get 2 per day now, then that's ok.

And maybe do something like the way comments work, don't allow them to flag an image for seven days when they make an account. They'll run into the forum "Why can't I do this?" And everyone will tell them why and tell them to make sure they're not a fucking idiot about it once they can.

Let say there are ten images flagged. Out of the ten, about one of the images normally is abuse of the FFD tool. About one to two, out of the ten, have the wrong reason why the images should be deleted, but the image should still be deleted anyway.

I say let the regular users have access to the FFD too. They can help improve the site and it makes what I have to do a hell of a lot easier. If someone want's to be dumb and abuse the tool, then they will be dealt with accordingly.

Would it be possible to do what I suggested earlier? Make it so users can't flag their first week? I don't know how much that would actually cut down, but it's an idea.

I can add that in with one line of code and very little overhead, just gotta remind me when I get MY computer back running.

While I kid, that did kinda prove that the one group isn't active enough to catch things with the tool, it needs everyone to use it to make it work. Make it crazy regulated if it IS getting abused, but it doesn't really seem to be that much

Yeah this is a pretty stupid idea. There are less than 80 members with Privileged or Contributor status.
