Add -status:deleted to your search.

That's a clunky method. Deleted posts should simply be not referenced in the search by default, since, y'know, they don't exist.

oh, they do exist. and in the original version of e621 they had iconiphones that said they were deleted. We have evolved passed that, but of course, I'll look into getting rid of them, though next time I suggest you posting in one of the two suggestion threads.
