Just a curious question.... Pools are defined as "groups of posts with a common theme." The definition further goes on to explain how they should be used for subjective tags, or comics and such.

All in all, this is great and it takes sense.

But... I've noticed that there are some... interesting pools out there that fit neither of these ideas..

like.. pool #328 -- "Kanes Kittens", a pool started by a fellow named 'Kane' appropriately. The description reads "This is a visual list of the cat tribe women that are now mated to him. Enjoy them." ... the images in general are not at all 'tribal,' and a very quick look through to the sources don't indicate that these are, in anyway, say, images that this Kane guy has had commissioned.

Or, pool #499 -- "Cobaltwolf1", described as "A list of mah favs"... Further, there's only actually one picture in this pool.

Or, pool #406 -- "komenty", described as "moje"... the posts in THAT pool seem to have.. uh... nothing in common with one another, not even fur :P

So.. my question is... what is a pool supposed to be and what, if anything, is done or can be done when you find a pool that seems to consist of someone's favorite fap material? :p

This isn't the first time this has been brought up ( http://e621.net/forum/show/4686 ), and unfortunately, nothings been done about it. I'd love to see unnecessary pools closed out, empty pools deleted, and the whole thing cleaned up in general.

There's no reason to create a pool of your favorite picture - that's what the favorite option is for. Pools should be regulated to image sets and comics.

bah, I skimmed back a few pages and didn't see that. Though perhaps it's time to bring it up again, since that one didn't get very many replies, and, as I understand it, a number of the folks in charge have changed. (Though this is admittedly a 'back burner' sort of thing--many more important things out there to tend to first!)

and that's pretty much what I figured. Especially if you're going to put a 'creepy' remark on it, suggesting hat all ocntained within are part of your harem :P

I wouldn't worry about it. It's been four months since someone brought the subject up, and, in my opinion, it's still worth looking into.

ive never even seen the pool;s to e honest, and have no idea what effect they have on the servers, but if it's negative and past neglible, it shold be fixed.

im not an expert, but im pretty sure the pools have very little to do with server problems

The pools can be found at a link on the top of the page... however, most people will probably 'notice' a pool when they pull up an image IN the pool.

Example: #70572... you're browsing along and stumble over that. Oh, how interesting, you say, being into both bats and foxes, and finding the art style appealing. Up at the top, you notice the text: Pool: Black Cherries >>

You click on >> and are taken to the next page in the comic, with no awkward digging to find the other images in the set that was posted over 5 months ago.

Pools are kinda a way of saying "There's more out there related to this picture if you want to see."

So, it's misleading when you see, say, pretty bobcat girl staring at the camera hungrily, looking unmolested and see that she's in a pool. Because, in this case, none of the rest of the images will have anything to do with her again.

yes on retarded taggers, but just take down the pools. doesn't making a negative mark on your account seem a little harsh for just making a stupid pool? not even the old admins did that (as far as I know)
