"Spielberg isn't at the helm so I have no faith at all in this movie. I'm still going to see it though..."

That comment sums up the Hollywood experience for me. People know the movie won't be any good, but they'll spend the money to continue the cycle anyway because why not?

Why can't they leave the movies alone and don't cancer it up by making remakes or sequels?

Complaining about Hollywood's lack of originality. How original. ;P

I know, because that exact location was used for 6 seasons of Lost.

Yeah, and I believe the original Jurassic Park was filmed there, too.

I dunno man. The first one was great because it was a unique idea. Even IF Spielberg was directing it, I'd be pretty sceptical. All the sequels so far have been horrible, and doing it right would take the kind of approach and moxi that hollywood frankly lacks.

I mean, I could be wrong but...

Spielberg is sane enough to understand it.. I suppose there should be something original about that one

I'd be really interested to see what his process was like writing the original. I firmly believe that once a director has reached the point where no one questions them, they can only go downhill.
I mean, Look at Super 8 - Spielberg's homage to himself. It was an okay film, but no one really talks about it like it's a must-see.

With Jurassic Park I feel like it's just too tempting to make the dinosaurs the main characters. Lots of people think this is the case with the first film but without protagonists you actually care about it's just loud scaly violence.

I got to agree with Patchi on this... why can't they just leave it alone since it succeeded?

Super-8 was trailered as a bland monster movie, is why. They dun fucked it up.

Spielberg is a shithead, him losing the rights to Star Wars was the best thing that ever happened to the franchise.
Daily reminder that Battlefront 3 was 99% finished before LucasArts canned it, along with Republic Commando 2 being cancelled by the man himself.

That being said, this movie might be okay.

Don't forget 1313. I was pumped for that because I used to really like Star Wars, and I kind of want a reason to keep liking it.

Spielberg never owned the rights to Star Wars. That was all George Lucas.

Shit, you're right, I confused the two. Sorry

No big deal. They're close friends, so I can see the confusion. Also, AFAIK, they worked on the Indiana Jones films together.

One word: Money

Being the minority here, I enjoyed all three Jurassic Park movies, though with each they increasingly lacked the luster that the original had. Might go out and see it. Giant dinosaurs are always fun to watch.

I think I'm probably in the bigger minority, I didn't like any of them.

Actually, if they don't make movies they lose the rights. So they have to if they want to keep them.

That's only true of certain movies that are under a specific type of contract.
The most significant example being Marvel and DC franchises, like Spiderman and the X-men.
If you create the copyright, it's yours for a very long time(until public use time, and at that point you, or your family can re-copyright it under today's laws without making a new movie).

Now, since the Jurassic Park franchise was created by Michael Crichton, it's possible that it's under a timer like that, but unlikely due to the length of time since JP3.
The specific length of time does vary depending on the contract, but 13 years is a really long period for that sort of clause.
Generally it's something around 5 years.

I know a large group of people that will be excited.. I'll probably remain skeptical, really.
