Anthro is short for Anthropomorphic. Since it's a long word and a hard hard to type too, we were lazy and just slapped it on any image that has a human-like creature

Anthro is also a prefix for (human-based)
In sciences, "anthropo-" is more commonly used.

Anthro is the shortened/slang form of "anthropo", actually. Anthrōpos is Ancient Greek for "man or human". morphic is the suffix that indicates that the form is shaped similarily- anthropomorphic has the simple meaning of "human shaped". You are correct in that anything utilizing the prefix "anthro" or "anthropo" is human-based, though. :)
