Yes we do need it. If we allowed minors here, word will get out and they will shut down the site.

you probably don't remember Ford, but when you first visit e621 there's a splash page that asks to verify your age, weither you've signed in or not. Strictly speaking, no one under 18 should even be looking at this site.

Just because you can do it doesn't make it not illegal.
Any website with explicitly pornograpahic content must ensure that it's registered users are over 18 BY LAW.
