When I signed up for this fine website, there were less than 300 blips made and e621 had been around for 5 years before I got here. Now it's been less than 2 years and the number has increased by 33x, what caused such a growth in the use of the blip system?

Wait, people use blips for anything ever?

Uh, if I had to guess, I'd say it's not that blips got popular, it's just there's more people on the site in general.

I wouldn't say that it's really that popular, there's just a small group of people that use it a fucking lot.

What the hell are blips even for anyways? Status updates? Someone catch me up to speed, as I am not into the whole "social media" thing.

Blips only exist since may 2012, and it has been rather popular with the same group of people since the beginning.

I like them because I recently re-located from San Antonio Texas, to Seattle Washington I barley know anyone except my roomate and its plain cool I mean Elad is in England, Patchi is in Australia, Peekaboo is in Sweden, Xe3| is in Mexico NotMeNotYou is in Germany and ThehuskyK9 is rather close to me he lives in California both on west coast :)

Back in my day we just wrote people letters, and I had to walk fifteen miles through the snow just to deliver that letter. Those were my short trips too!

Why laugh? I use it too and 99% of the times I write/post here more than there. rarely I write something on facebook

well, I know some who don't like facebook (I just use it to post music/videos from YouTube or make short comments)

It's not so much a craze as a small handful of people who spam them all day.

I'd probably use it more if everybody I knew irl weren't fucking morons. The last post I made got two comments, one saying that it's hard to read the stuff I type (because it's proper fucking English) and the other was an avtual serious offer to sell me weed.

Blips are some alien thing that tony found in the alley and poked or something like that

In reality they are the e6 version of tweets and are kinda fun to just announce random news or unimportant bits of information about what you are doing
