Topic: how to add/update sources?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I'm just mostly a lurker/viewer or whatever you want to call it. don't really vote, and the amount of times I've commented can be counted on one hand.

been browsing an artist's work, and a few of their artwork, I found a source on Pixiv, generally because they have it in a group/compilation.

was wondering how to add a source, or if it's even okay for someone like me to do so. some of the posts are kind of old, like more than 4 years, but still.

a bit below the image there's a big button that says Edit (next to the one that says Comments), from here you can edit the post's tags, description, and sources.

anything I should be aware of or know about before I accidentally screw something up? I'd imagine it would need to be approved first before anything by a mod or something

There's no approval, anyone can edit anything. Equally, anyone can undo said changes, and a pattern of bad changes can have consequences. If you modify tags, make sure to check the wikis on each tag first. Adding a source should usually be fine, as long as the post is available there and it's not a piracy site.

what about tags for characters? and adding onto that, what about tags for characters that don't have a tag yet?

I remember editing a post once, because the parent post was the same character, but the child post didn't have the tag, so I made an edit. I'm assuming I did it right at the time, because after checking back on it, the tag was updated including the character.

for characters, as long as a part of them is visible in the image, the tag is valid. if a character is in a costume or something both the character themselves and the character they're dressed as are tagged.

for new tags for characters, putting character: directly before the tag (no spaces, no underscores) the tag will be created as a character tag, if you forget to do this or you find that someone else did, you can change the tag's category by clicking Change Tag Type on its wiki page (the ? links next to tags).
