Topic: How to tag artist name changes

Howdy I'm wondering what the procedure is for when an artist changes their name?
Do we tag the post under the artists old name, do we update all the old posts to the new artist name, or something else?

I came across a post tagged with "Big_Wada" as the artist tag today with only one post under the name tag, but I recognized their work, and when I looked it up, it was by Wadaji. However it seems like Wadaji has entirely switched to using Big_Wada on their socials, website, and for their watermarks.

I am unsure how to tag it.So for now, I just added the old artist tag to the post. How should I tag it in the future? Or should I make an alias or bulk update request? What do?

If the artist has changed their name, we'll need to update their artist tag to match, and that's best done with an alias or BUR so that anyone who knows the old name can find the new. Keeping it updated also makes it easier should they rebrand themselves again but the old name has been lost to the ravages of time.

Be sure to show your work, as it helps to leave a papertrail. The less work an Admin has to do to ensure the alias is valid, the better.
