Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Bellamy Brothers, Alabama, George Strait, Hogjaw, etc. Just naming a few groups. Some of the greatest music in American history!
I can name many more.

Most of today's music has gone to hell with autotuning, generic pop, crappy dubstep, etc.
In my opinion, the best music available today is the kind that isn't mainstream, and has next to no lyrics. Not all music is like so and I prefer certain artists over others. I've actually made a list of what I generally listen to. Be warned that the list is quite long because I have 14,000+ songs saved on my smartphone.
I'd heavily recommend Two Steps From Hell, for starters.

Does it count if I used to listen to those songs because my dad played them in the car no matter how much I asked him to stop?
No. It doesn't

The Charlie Daniel's Band is the only one that has more than one song I like.

ZZ Top is just old school cool. Love their music, but I'm more into classic rock, like AC/DC or Guns 'N Roses.
