kris is canonically non binary so this should be reflected in the lore tags

characters never imply lore.
lore tags are based on artist interpretation and/or expression. so, a character can be depicted with a gender/gender identity that dosn't align with canon depictions.

If an artist draws Kris as very deliberately gendered, that's not the sort of search result people want to see in nonbinary_(lore).

the lore tags are not meant for visible things so nobody would be using it and expecting to not see gendered characters so this is a bit of a moot point

Visible things isn't the point, artists can establish and apply their own canon to their art, and their canon takes precedence
If an artist says a character who is canonically nonbinary is male in their canon, then that's the canon tagging is based on

In the future you should also actually make the request so it could be voted on

They aren't? Kris is gender ambiguous/unspecified... preferring gender neutral pronouns doesn't automatically mean you are nonbinary because pronouns aren't determined by gender identity and vice versa.

Regardless Kris' gender is never explicitly stated within or outside of Deltarune so none of the gender lore tags are applicable to them, as they all require explicit statements of gender identity from the author or character owner.

Don't we not know Kris' gender? In that case, in arts where its not clear what gender Kris is (e.g. nearly every image of Kris on e621, even nude pictures where a viewer could identify that Kris' sex), the ambiguous_gender tag would need to be used (unless there is evidence that the artist that drew that Kris mentioned in that artwork or in related artworks the gender of their Kris). Also remember, non-binary is a gender like man or woman, so if you can't find anywhere what gender the thing you're looking at is, use ambiguous_gender until there is conformation on what gender the artist made the character. It might sound annoying (it is), but doing so can make e621 a more accurate place to find what people want.

TWYS requires tagging by what is visible, if there's a visible penis or vagina ambiguous gender cannot apply
Artist intent does not matter when it comes to tagging genders, only the lore tags

Also FYI, colors are only usable to privileged users and above

howto:tag_genders

"gender" as we use the term in general tags has a fairly concrete definition and is closer to "gender presentation". it groups characters into 7 categories based on them presenting overall masculine or feminine and what genitals they have. characters are only considered ambiguous_gender if they both present as androgynous and do not have visible genitals.
