Topic: Discussion: Big vs. Large For Tagging?

Posted under General

I noticed a lot of tags go something like "big_x" as opposed to "large_x", which are implicated away from, but I don't see a reason why? It seems kinda childish to keep it like that, but I wanna hold off a moment to discuss it first. So, why are we using "big" instead of "large" for tagging?

The two terms are almost synonymous and trying to create a distinction between them (and teach taggers about it) is an uphill battle.

they are synonymous and "big" is a shorter and simpler word than "large", also there is no reason to change it. if it ain't broke, don't fix it

If that's the case, one could make an argument for aliasing large_x to big_x, which honestly, is a worthwhile change.

I think most of them are already aliased. If you searchby "large_* -big_*", you'd notice that the only tags starting with "large_*" are fixed expressions, such as large_group.
