If you're referring to the Edit over on the left side panel, that's scheduled to be put back later this week, if I'm not mistaken. Until then, there's still the hotkey E and the Edit under the picture itself, beside the Comments.

Ah ok, I was getting this problem too. I was afraid I was banned from editing posts. Thanks!
I find it really interesting that people prefer the button that's normally further down that the other one.
And today I learned that clicking "Comments" while editing doesn't discard your edit. I assumed it did because it looks like a regular link.

I never saw the button under the picture up until this whole ordeal. I think it's a expectation + visibility thing.
Thank you for updating. Sadly "e" button edit is not available on mobile.I'm glad I'm not the only person who saw this. Looking forward to the new update.

It's surprising how many people thought that. Rest assured that if we somehow did have that ability and used it on you, we would not leave you in the dark about why we did it. After all, we want people to be able to edit posts, and if we have to hypothetically take that ability from a User, then they'd be doing something that requires a record.

after all, why would the button for editing tags be in the comments section of the page instead of the tags section of the page?
I'm curious why it was taken out in the first place, still nice if we are getting it back.

Easier access to the History and Related section (mostly the related section)
Basically redundant with the E shortcut

Where's is this E button on mobile?
e621 doesn't seems to make up their mind sometimes, having layout changes to have a better experience on mobile but then change something that it's worse for mobile users to help tagging, then you think "ok so they are back to leaning to desktop users" and so they break you using the "enter" key to make searches...

That's a know bug related to deprecating Jurassic-era librairies. It'll be fix, but all the staff including the lead admin and the devs on this website are unpaid volunteers; so be patient

this wasn't a change made for mobile. why does everyone always assume that every change that ever happens is a change made for mobile?
this was just removing a duplicate button that has always been a duplicate button because it's way more out-of-the-way than the main one, it's redundant, and they'd assumed that no one ever used it, or at least was aware of the other edit button that, again, has always been there.

Because the fields for editing the tags appear under the post, where the comments normally are. It switches between Comments mode and Edit mode, and you'll be right where you need to be when activated. On the side bar puts it more out of the way, where the editing fields may appear further down or further up from where the link is, depending on the size of the image and number of tags already present. (Not to say there shouldn't be a duplicate link on the sidebar if that's where some people are used to it being; just providing the logic for why some prefer it underneath the post).
Maybe the link to activate note editing should be moved there too. I hate having to scroll past hundreds of tags to get to a link to do something that then requires me to scroll back up to the top of the page to actually use.
I intend to make a fully customizable toolbar where you can put whatever items you want & permanently put these concerns to bed, but that's gonna take some time.
Credits where it's due I'm glad it's back plus how it shows ID, MD5, etc now at the left looks pretty nice.

the ID being there isn't new, but the MD5 is, I think. all the values seem to select on click now, which definitely is new.
I was confused when sidebar edit was removed for a sec but devs cooked adding the easy copy / paste file hash.
For some reason I couldn't see this get updated
