The tag alias #79809 therobd -> tero-blue-dragon has been approved.
Reason: I want to change my artist name on the site, since it has already changed on other platforms, and to ensure consistency with all platforms.

No, you did everything correct.
Usually when people do an alias request for an artist tag, they need to provide proof that both tags are for the same artist.
You are the artist yourself in this case, so you don't need to provide proof.
That comment is just to tell e621 staff that you are the artist.
