Topic: Why are so many posts tagged as herm when they clearly don't have a visual vagina?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

This is a gripe I had for a while. It seems like 45% of herm labeled posts either show the subject as just having an anus with no vagina at all, or just shows your average gynomorph front facing with no indication of what they got back there. Why? Why is this so prevalent? I mean it describes it quite plainly in the info on the tag that both the vagina and penis have to be visual to be considered 'herm'. You can't even changed it because 'herm' is a locked tag. When I look up herm I am looking for something specific. Not all variants of gynomorph can, and should be used interchangeably. Can something be done about this?

Can you provide examples? If there isn't a visible vulva, or vulva_outline or some other indication of one, it would be a mistag. If herm is locked onto a post, that means a moderator deemed there to be visible indication that a character has a vulva and penis.

Here, first page: https://e621.net/posts/5907152?q=herm . There is no indication this is a herm.

All of them seem to be mistags and should be fixed.

So, to answer your original question, people can be bad at tagging and it is a community-wide effort to fix these mistags.

None of those posts have herm locked on it. Unfortunately herm is often mistagged on characters that should be tagged gynomorph, but they're not locked and you can fix erroneous uses like those that you find. I fix mistags like that when I see them too, but it's not something I normally look at so I don't fix that much of them.

Oh? when I clicked on the question mark on next the tag, it says "herm(locked)" If it's not locked then how do I remove it? I am a little new to actually tagging things and don't really know how this works.

The question mark takes you to the wiki page, and as TheGreatWolfgangCrocoGator said in the other topic, that just means the wiki page itself is locked (only people with appropriate privileges can change what the wiki says). However, you can still add or remove it from posts like any other tag (click the Edit link underneath the image to edit the post's tags).

Eureka. Thank you. I feel a little silly but thank you regardless.
