Topic: What happened to my user record?

Posted under General

I used to have a neutral user record, but now it's removed despite me never requesting to get rid of it. The "help page":help/records_and_feedback says that they're not removed automatically. Has something changed?

I know they can, I just wondered why I had the privilege of not even needing to ask. At least now I know it was a human action.

They ran across your profile by some unknown means and decided to remove a record that was old enough to be decayed, it happens all the time

I once had requested a neutral record for my account (which has since been decayed/removed), one that I specifically asked for the reason on it to be "Don't trust the pussycat" (or something similar)

Usually, from personal experience, if the record is deemed irrelevant/unnecessary or the user in question doesn't display the behavior that got them the record, it'll be removed when the proper time passes.

All of the fun records I added to users were nuked by a killjoy admin months ago, which is really sad
They never seem to last long because no one is allowed to have fun

To be fair, records can decay over time and be removed upon request.

Though I don't think that records should be automatically removed since you can't be sure if someone actually learnt from their mistakes or have simply taken a prolonged hiatus and just came back.

That's not the point I'm making, they weren't punishment records and I know the users didn't request their removal

There also is no automatic removals in any capacity, it's always and will presumably forever be entirely manual

The Admins can check quite a bit of information to see if someone hasn't repeated their mistakes and how active they've been since the record. Even Janitors and Mods have quite a bit of information they can look up if they so desire. Nobody just punches a button like a robot. They use their brains.

That's sad and feels like micro managing. Aren't those like accolades/pat on the back?

Didn't mean to say that it was a bot action, I was just given the impression that someone was randomly cleaning up old records that were due to be expunged anyways without being requested to do so by the record holder (as per the OP's comment).

No, not really. They're moreso meant as basically a warning and reminder of the rules of the site.

The green records, those are accolades/pats on the back.

A couple of greys are also just for fun and aren't negative, but those are pretty rare
