Hi, i'm new when it comes to uploading content so I wanted to ask before i do so. There's this one artist named yibian_sz i've been following lately that only has a couple uploads here, i'm wanting to post most of their twitter posts here, but I was curious what happens if I accidently post a duplicate image as I've currently just downloaded all of their art haphazardly.

I also noticed some of these JPGs have some odd corruption, I think the top one should be fine to post with a little cropping, but i'm not sure about the bottom one

Twitter corruption at the bottom isn't that uncommon, but do not crop the images
It's better for it to match the source regardless of that corruption

I have never seen twitter do that second one so I'm inclined to believe it might be intentional, see if it can be found at another source
Also never use twitter image urls where name is not orig, always replace the value there with orig
Also also you need the tweet url to source the image to, not sourcing where you got the images from when you should have the source absolutely will get you in trouble (it sounds like you're planning on just shotgunning posts from your downloaded images)

https://e621.net/iqdb_queries and https://saucenao.com can be used to check for existing posts, you aren't going to get in trouble if it's an accident but if you're negligently uploading and excessively creating duplicate posts that will get you in trouble

Alright, thanks for the quick response, but I wasn't planning on shotgunning (I have an upload limit lol.) I just wanted to get some answers before I started uploading

Exact image matches would be prevented by the system itself, but it wouldn't hurt you to just skim through the existing posts under yibian_sz to see if that post already exists.
Alternatively, you can e621's built-in Similar Images Search to see if something is already posted here by uploading the image or posting the image link there.

Please do your due diligence though and make sure you are actually uploading high-quality images from the best of sources instead of sample or low-quality images, see howto:sites and sources.

Do not ever alter the artist's image in any way, even if it got corrupted on the bottom of the image due to a bug on X.
Just upload the image as is or find an alternative source that has the uncorrupted version.

Please note that the janitors do seem to prefer a "corrupted but significantly larger version" of an image rather than an "uncorrupted but significantly smaller" version of an image.
