You need to show us the post you uploaded for us to answer that question.
Looking at the selection of images there- probably because it has extreme/unpopular content.
e621 users are as capricious as they come with voting.

A lot of the time people see a negative score and mindlessly hit downvote. Happens on sites like Reddit too.
It's like how the old saying goes: "Opinions are like assholes; everybody has one." You might think the art you uploaded was great and expected it to have a warm reception on here, but other users might have thought it didn't quite meet their standards or they didn't like what they were seeing. So instead it ended up getting downvoted and now has a negative score. A better question would be: Why did you even feel the need to ask about it and create a forum post for this? You're obviously very new to the concept of scores on posts like on here. Or you just get easily upset if you see people not agreeing with your assessment of an image. If something I posted has a low score and people end up not liking it I just reconcile that maybe I thought it was better than what it really was or my tastes are unique and just move on.

they said it was on the first page not the first image. with every user able to adjust how many images are on each page the minimum being 25 and my option set at 100, thats a lot of images to guess what it is
it don't matter now though, the user closed their account

I guess they don't like criticism?
that's why they started this forum but they weren't to specific on what post it was so there's no way we could've given them a straight answer in the first place so it's still a mystery as to "why did I get downvoted"
