Topic: Should "Crossing That Bridge" be included in the "Nest Coffee Co-op" pool?

Posted under General

Personally, it feels like part of the series to me, and I would have included it if I made the pool, but I didn't want to unilaterally add it to someone else's pool.

So, "The Nest Coffee Co-op" isn't an official series. The artist, Glopossum, is an e621 member, and uploads a lot of her own art, but didn't create this pool. Most of Glopossum's work is set in the same universe and has a lot of overlapping characters, and the cafe seems to be a central connection between them. The pool description gives the individual series "volume" numbers, but that's not official either. They aren't numbered in any of the original sources. If "Crossing That Bridge" was included, it would become volume 1, and "A Show of the Ropes" would become volume 2 instead.

Potential arguments against including "Crossing That Bridge":

  • It's in black and white, while the other series are in color.
  • None of the story is actually set at the cafe.

Potential arguments in favor of including "Crossing That Bridge":

  • It includes Junip as a main character and a cameo from Beruca, linking it to the rest of the series.
  • Even if we don't see the cafe, the cafe is mentioned in passing, since Junip works there.

If they're distinct stories that take place in the same "universe", even if they have the same characters and locations, it's worth having separate pools, IMO. If there's an overarching story or some connecting tissue leading from one story to the next, the pages can actually be put into two pools, one for the larger overarching narrative, and one for the given story. See how Silver Soul or On Borrowed Time are set up; one pool for the whole story, and individual pools for each chapter.
