Topic: Searching 'Comments' Breaks 9 Times Out Of 10

I don't know why, but attempting to rearrange Comments by Order: Created or Order: Score will just throw a 'Something Broke' error more often than it works.

The comments index is and has always been unstable, it timing out is not uncommon

I guess it needs many, many cigarettes after all the thirst that goes on on this site. :P

I wonder why it borks. Just too many comments indexed?

Likely indexes missing on specific fields, though it's returning the default error page rather than a properly formatted page, so an error might be getting thrown in rack or some other middleman rather than in the controller itself

Huh, I remember it breaking in a different way before, one that made me think it was likely a timeout error. Also searching by body text is rather broken. searching [quote] brings up the same error

I am 99% sure it's a timeout, it's just being thrown in a weird place which is causing a different error page to be rendered
