Topic: What if you could gender an ungendered tag?

Imagine...

Male:cum

And you see images where the male is cumming.

Sure you could do "male cum -female" but that cuts all images where men cum on or in or near women. You could do "male_ejaculation" but that requires a whole new tag for this concept... "men cumming".

E-Hentai made it work for them.

Yes, but they made a design decision over a decade ago to make tags specific to categories. Here, we made the decision to instead keep them together, but have say *_(artist) when a general tag overlaps with an artist name. Part of our argument was tag explosions prevention.

Also, you mostly get that by ejaculation or by excluding female_orgasm without mutual orgasms.
Examples: orgasm -female_orgasm male_penetrating cum_in_* ejaculation -female_ejaculation orgasm female_orgasm mutual_orgasm

Basically this suggestion is tag relations.
Assuming we can immediately develop this system, there's still a couple of problems
One, the main problem is who is going to be diligent enough to create and maintain these relations when it's already a challenge for users to tag the basic features of a post, and two, we have quite the backlog of posts we have to redo if this were implemented

This is why Dragoness is aliased to Dragon. And yes, millions of posts means it'll never get implemented.

Also cum is the substance, not the action, so cum ejaculation male is already exactly what you want

What you actually want is Character-Based Tagging (my name for SNP's tag relations); see the following:

  • [1]: My through breakdown on a theoretical implementation, & the challenges preventing it from happening.

You've thought about this a lot and I understand the challenges that would come with overhauling the system and forcing everyone to use the new system. But what if it was an optional system like the Lore tags only collapsed by default? Users tag what they see, and then optional extra tags can be added for specifying which tag applies to which character and gender, and these tags go into a category collapsed by default. If you search for male:cum you'll see not every image of ejaculating males, but just the ones people bothered to add that optional tag to.

In that case, what's the difference between this optional system and using sets? It's something used by a small minority of people on a small minority of posts, and the scenarios that most people would want from gender based tagging would already be there nope, can't even find a male cumming set

You'd be able to search for "male:cumming dominant:canine dominated:feline" or whatever. I don't know if you can search the whole site for art that appears in multiple sets at the same time like that.

That requires even more dev work for even fewer people to try to use on even fewer properly-tagged posts. That's the crux of the issue; either everyone tags properly for it, or it's not worth the effort.
