Topic: What is the purpose of the "synthetic" tag? [Now with BUR!]

From a quick glance, the synthetic tag appears to be synonymous with cyborg, but also contains some non-cybernetic artificial lifeforms. The name could also be interpreted to refer to synthetic fabric or other objects. There's currently no wiki description to clarify matters.
