Topic: Character_name implies Friendship_is_magic

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Currently rainbow_dash_(mlp) (aliased to rainbow_dash) implies friendship_is_magic. However Rainbow Dash is present in MLP media other than friendship_is_magic, such as "The Runaway Rainbow" (g3).

I suggest removing this implication as Rainbow Dash was never unique to the new FIM series

I suppose the same goes for other characters like Applejack, they are MLP characters and long have been after all.

Perhaps the _(MLP) suffix should be changed to _(FIM), so that previous MLP generations can have a specific tag.

It's the other way around actually

FiM is part of MLP. IMO I don't think we need multiple tags that relates to only one specific character.

Do you have an alternative solution? Because as it stands the implication is forcing MLP images that are completely unrelated to FiM (being made before it began) to be tagged FiM.

Hm, I can fully see your point but I believe the implication was done to cut back on noisy drama, mainly people complaining that they either don't want to blacklist everything that ever showed up in MLP:FIM or complaining that the mlp and fim tags aren't properly tagged and thus can't blacklist.

Which means, it was implicated to save work on both ends, tagging is easier and people complaining are fewer, at the cost that we have 3 pictures or so mistagged as FIM even though they aren't part of that series, but still belong to the big mlp franchise.

The question now is, would it be really worth to undo this implication or is the "damage" caused negligible?
Last time I checked we only had a handful of pre-FIM ponies on here so the negative impact should be pretty small, if I remember correctly.

I suggested a while back to change the (mlp) to (fim) when we added (eg) versions of the same character tags.

We already have multiple tags relating to individual characters. See above.

I was gonna search for how many pre-fim ponies we had on site, but alas, the typical method would be to negate "friendship_is_magic", and that tag is gonna be used on certain pre-fim pictures because of this strange implication.

I understand that it conveniences a larger number of users as is, but to any fans of earlier gens, it's a big convenience to negate the "friendship_is_magic" tag

We don't need more

And this right here is why it won't change. Yes, it puts out a small number of people- But, it assists far more. It's of more use as is than if it wasn't.

If you go to 20pc they have it all separated by generation if you so desire. But that kind of specificity is kind of irrelevant here.
