Topic: Uploading an unarchived Doujinshi from an inactive artist.

Posted under General

Good evening everyone, I hope you are all doing well!

I have a question in regards to uploading something like a Doujinshi, I understand most of these are paid for... however, I managed to get my hands on one from a resale-site and NOT the original artist. Would it go against DNP guidelines for me to post a photo scanned copy of the Doujin on here?

However, it seems like the artist is either A. inactive or B. going under another pseudonym?

I know I've been looking for this doujin for a while and I figured it would be good for archival to have it online.

[the Doujin in question is "Meaning of Life Episode 5: My World" and "Meaning of Life Episode 5: My World Another" by "Akira Kanazuki"

Yes it would still be commercial content, even if you bought it from a resale site.

If it has never been publicly released for free it is still paid content.

Sounds good, I won't upload it to the site then. Thanks for the clarification Manitka!

A bit more of a dumb question:

Considering both of the covers can be found online does it still count for me to scan the covers and upload them?

If the covers are freely available online they should be fine!

Just to clarify, just because something is found "for free" online does not mean you can simply upload them.
We only accept what the artist uploads. Anything else could be leaked commercial content that we would want to avoid.

If those covers are posted freely by the artist themselves, then you can post it directly from that original source.
We don't want any of the scanned images you might have right now with your physical copy as that would be considered as lower quality.

Didn't think about that last part with the scans being considered lower quality.

I do remember seeing that the artist put them out on an online listing in the mid 2000s, I could look for those instead. (Assuming that the artist's listings are still around.)
If I am not able to find evidence of the listings then I will NOT post any of the images of the covers that are online.

That'd probably be wise. Thank you for being so mindful & through about this, it's greatly appreciated!
