arttags:0 ...Unless those kinds of things don't work with the blacklist.
I'll note though that posts missing an artist tag are universally doing so by mistake. There's no valid case for a post to have no artist tags.

Nope, arttags meta tag doesn't seem to work in the blacklist
The post list on the index does not have the categories of their tags, so this is not possible

It was worth a shot. Thanks.
It should be fairly trivial to make some backend changes to make this possible, but I am doubtful it would be worth it

Arguably, it might let us search out posts without an artist tag so we can put them in.

You already can do that. arttags:0
This just doesn't work on blacklists apparently.
I've said it before (see here for more details), but it's worth repeating that everything supported by the blacklist is documented in the blacklist help page, & the blacklist is handled entirely differently than the search bar because searches are handled server-side (& consequently have access to more info), while blacklists are handled client-side (& consequently have only the info returned by the server).

That was the first place I went. Just wondered if there was some hidden gem. For example, I was only recently made aware of status:pending, which I never would've thought of by reading the help page.

Oh man, I never would've guessed since there are sooooo many posts without one.

It looks like we forgot to add that; thanks for pointing that out, I'll go add that now.
Edit: It is in the full list of supported metatags, but there was no info detailing its use; I've add that now.

Yeah, a good proportion are people who are making the first post under an artist's tag and just don't set up the tag correctly. Some have a known artist in the source but are untagged because the uploader forgot. And the rest should either be anonymous_artist or unknown_artist.

There's also a surprising amount of self-uploading artists who regularly forget to tag their own artist tag, probably because they're using PostyBirb and/or are more used to traditional gallery sites where the uploader is usually quite obvious.
We've added a button on the uploader for verified uploaders that adds their artist tag(s), so hopefully that'll happen less often, at least for verified users.
