Topic: The 'butt' tag needs a clearer use case.

We all love our t&a here, but let's be real: the 'butt' tag isn't doing much legwork. There are way too many art pieces that prominently feature a nice ass and lack the tag, and too many pieces that have the opposite problem where 'butt' is needlessly tagged. Like, see here which is as far back as the site lets me go with these three simple tags; roughly 10-25% of the posts prominently feature the ass (and one that anyone looking for 'butt' would want to see) and lack the tag, which if the trend continues would require an obscene amount of work to solve. Imo this is because "butt" is kind of vague. Is it two round things in your face? Probably, right? How about a side profile? You definitely notice that butt is stuffed, but it's not featured very prominently. From the front maybe? Idk, then everything on the site might apply, right? Yet there are so many tagged like this. cuz' you can almost always see the butt from the front. Anal maybe? Sure, but around half the posts that would qualify then aren't tagged. The list kind of goes on and on, but problematic non-use cases are omnipresent and old as hell.

I could go on and on about things I'm hooked on and can't stop staring at, but the point is this: "butt" is absurdly vague as-is. I feel like some more pedantic definition would make it used properly or tagged as-needed. 'Full view of the crack' should probably be part of it, at the very least, imo. (Yes I get that it reads like a shitpost, it's supposed to be funny to read but the point's genuine.)

Butt is deliberately vague in order to accommodate all things butt and butt-related.
If I'm adverse to butts, I would want to exclude or blacklist it from view and not worry about flat or barely-visible butts not being considered.

If you want butts literally right up in your face, use butt_focus, butt_shot, or even ass_up or presenting_hindquarters.

Alternatively, if you want to be able to exclude partial butts from your searches, you can propose a few subtags for consideration, akin to side_boob & under_boob for breasts.

Any tag that uploaders are not actively punished for not including will be undertagged, that's just how it goes
(and even those tags uploaders get punished for not including are still undertagged, just less so on average)

If you want to see the tag used more, start a tagging project
