Topic: The new keyboard features are unpleasant

Hello. The new keyboard shortcuts are screwing me over.
I cannot hit r to see a random post in my favorites. That bothers me.
Also, this bothers me even more: When I edit posts, I often hit alt + ← twice to go back to the main page. Now, that hitting the arrow keys will take you to the next post, ignoring the alt key completely, is kind of screwing me over. I can no longer easily back out of a post using my keyboard.
Could the changes be undone, please?

yeah, i would be inclined to agree, i made a post about this in the UI thread, but i just noticed they also changed the behavior of the left/right arrows, which i don't fully dislike, being that they move next/back now. But the previous usage of them was seeking forward/back in video players. Which is completely broken now, even if you have a video in fullscreen. Maybe there's an alternate binding now? But considering that nobody bothers rolling out any form of changelog for this stuff, i have no idea what's even been changed, so unless they update the keybind settings page (no clue where this is lmao) every time they roll one of these out, im not sure how i would even know about it.

It seems they've also changed some generic behavior as well, my previous post mentions w/s scrolling being different in problematic ways.

1. Keyboard shortcuts are remappable; go here to adjust them to your liking.
2. You have to release the Alt button & re-press it for it to register; this is to prevent accidentally triggering shortcuts twice.
3. We are currently looking into revising Alt processing specifically to prevent interference with things like this.

could you just fav:Cow_of_Fire?

To clarify what dba afish is saying, anything you're currently searching gets used as the base search for the random post, so searching fav:Cow_of_Fire & then pressing R should have the desired effect; I just tried it myself.

Automatically randomizing favorites from the favorites page should be in the next update.

The…cause was already there previously, the effect was removed in the previous update for some reason…

The effect on that 1 specific route was forgotten when we completely rewrote how keyboard shortcuts work to facilitate rebindable hotkeys b/c it behaves in a unique way.

As I said, the effect should be restored in the next update.
