Topic: Can You Blacklist Downvoted Posts Using Downvote:Username?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Not sure exactly which category this would fall under, but recently I found the [voteddown:anything/downvote:anything] tag and I was hoping for some clarification on how it works.

Ideally, I'd like a tag that I can add to my blacklist in order to permanently exclude from my search results posts that I've downvoted. I was under the impression this tag was what I was looking for. However, it doesn't seem to work properly when included in my blacklist- it does nothing. I'm also confused on the text that's supposed to replace the "anything" part. Is it meant to be my username? It seems any combination of characters produces the same search results- the posts that I've downvoted.

Ultimately, my question is just two parts: what is supposed to go into the "anything" portion of the tag, and more importantly, can I use it or something similar in my blacklist in order to passively exclude my downvoted posts from all future search results?

Thanks in advance!

It can't be used in the blacklist, posts do not give the client data on votes and that would be required since blacklisting is clientside

Also on the anything, it can literally be any string of numbers or letters, the value is ignored for non-moderator users

Anything; whatever you want. downvote:a and downvote:Swinburne both do the same thing. If I had to guess, this is because e621 only knows to treat "tags" specially when they contain a colon (think order:score, source:*furaffinity*). downvote by itself just looks like a regular tag called downvote.

I don't think so. Your blacklist is applied locally on your computer, after the page is loaded. That's why you can toggle it on/off without reloading the page. e621 doesn't keep a copy of all of your upvotes/downvotes/favs in every page, so you can't blacklist posts by them.

I just updated the cheatsheet, don't tell me I forgot to put it there...

Nevermind, I did provide an explanation.

User-Based Metatags

Search What it does
voted:anything** Posts you voted on. Only works while logged in.
votedup:anything/upvote:anything** Posts you upvoted. Only works while logged in.
voteddown:anything/downvote:anything** Posts you downvoted. Only works while logged in.

* This metatag cannot use the metatag:!user_id syntax.
** anything can be replaced w/ any text; it will only return results relating to the logged-in user. Only staff members can search another user's votes.
