I am writing to talk about an incident that happened about a month and a half ago. My username on discord was Asphyxiophilia. I will admit I wasn’t the most popular person on the discord, and sometimes I would get timed out when my conversations heated up other people. However, a month and a half ago I was banned from the discord. Leading up to the ban, me and a couple of other users were simply discussing the implications and merely questioning the integrity of the server staff there given the implementation of a rule for what we believed to be polotical purposes (something I can’t help but stand by given this experience). The conversation was peaceful, at least on my end. I was already talking to some lower end staff to clear my name up and distance myself from people who were getting more heated, though eventually one iffy comment lead to a 10 minute timeout, which i served without issue. The timeout came and went, with the staff member telling me afterwards I was free to talk again, with me apologizing for the comment (the comment in question was a simple agreement to another comment someone made about another user who wasn’t staff). From there it seemed like the end of it, until all of a sudden I got banned.
The interesting thing however was that I don’t actually know if this is the reason for the ban, its just a guess. This is because I was never told a reason for the ban, and so far literally every attempt I have to find out the specifics for the ban have fallen flat. I have tried friend requesting the staff I had talked to to figure out why I got banned, and none of them ever accepted it so I could talk to them. Aside from this, the fact that this happened right after I got a time out, with no messages sent from me in the discord between the time the time out ended and I got banned, as well as me asking around non staff friends still in the server, implies there was actually no internal discussion about my ban; a staff member seemingly just decided to ban me because they felt like it.
You may be wondering why I am asking via a forum post instead of the standard “send an email to [email protected]”. The reason I am doing this is because I have already tried this. 3 times as a matter of fact, one on the 29th of May, one on June 7th, and one on June 17th. None of these emails were so much as even responded to, which makes me wonder if they were ever even seen at all. This complete lack of communication has forced my hand to ask here on the forums in a rather unconventional way about the ban. Simply put, if I was rightfully banned, then I want to be given a reason for me being banned, and if there was no reason, then I want to be unbanned. Thank you for your time of reading this.
