Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: privvys-art -> privvy

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias privvys-art -> privvy (forum #451013) has been rejected by @furrypickle.

Note: this seems to be completely unnecessary.

- The name "privvy" has never been used as a tag in the history of the site, so clearly there is no confusion or redundancy that is necessary for us to correct.

- While they do go by Privvy sometimes for short, their main handle and brand seems based around privvys-art/privvysart/privvysarttime and that seems to be universally how they are known and recognised. They might eventually decide they want to be known as just "privvy" and if that ever happens we can revisit this at that time. But I don't want to decide that for them.

- The "other names" section on the artist profile is meant to document information known about that artist for research purposes and identification/consistency over time. It is mainly for checking if "...yes it is confirmed this artist has sometimes gone by these other handles or nicknames" so you can know how likely it is to be the same person if you're trying to doublecheck old/obscure information. So it's to reduce confusion. Often old handles, less common nicknames, variations of their name across different websites. But if other handles are not currently causing a duplicate pile of results for searching, then we don't need to alias it to anything. Aliases are to help with functionality. Artist profiles are to document information. Sometimes it's enough to just have the info in their artist page.
