Topic: [Feature Request] Wiki pages to link pending BUR requests

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Would it be possible to have wiki pages link to currently pending BUR requests featuring the tag? This would be helpful for keeping users apprised of current discussion on tags of interest, and reduce the number of duplicates created. There are a lot of old BUR requests that are still pending, and they're not always easy to find with the site searches.

That's unlikely to be implemented

and they're not always easy to find with the site searches.

and that's one of the reasons.

They need to have it fixed before such a system can be made. And while it might reduce the number of duplicates, I believe it won't be reduced by a significant amount.

Finding pending BURs are relatively easy though? It wouldn't be too hard for a userscript to add a request to https://e621.net/bulk_update_requests with a search based on the wiki's name, so the site could certainly do it too. It's certainly a possible idea, though whether it would be useful is independent of that.

Is it that easy? From the BUR listing page, you can't search for BURs that reference specific tags, you can only do a textual search of the scripts (e.g. you can't really search BURs that touch the male tag specifically, only scripts that contain the letters male). Plus, a search being easy for a user to do doesn't mean it's very efficient for the site to do. Doing a search for every wiki page access will be much greater than an occasional search for a user specifically searching BURs.

No, this is not a good idea.
Wiki pages are used by many people, who generally do not care much about the pending AIBURs.
Sending fairly expensive requests to check for those on every page load is not something we should be doing.

I've wanted to improve the BUR creation page to add something similar to bitWolfy's BUR debugger (which sadly is now gone, alongside his site).
But that's unfortunately not a huge priority right now.
