Since there's a surprisingly large amount of you guys here, I was wondering what rifle I should shoot for my second time shooting, I want a pretty powerful rifle since I may not be able to go shooting again for a while, so help me pick;

.40 biretta92 (Recoil was pretty surprising but not bad really.)

Also general tips on shooting for left handed shooters.

If you want power, you could try a 30.06

Generally a good choice for a first rifle would be a mosin nagant m91/30. You can get one for about 160-170 dollars at big 5. Just make sure you can find the ammo for it at a decent price. and if not you can always buy ammo online (depending where you live) for a good price.

Looking at your site there, I'd recommend going with one of the lever action rifles. Mostly because I love that action and the wild west vibe it carries. More practically, lever action is hand-agnostic, unlike a bolt.

More generally for doing most anything left handed, try to find another left-hander, or a righty who shoots left handed. I realize that's more or less what you're asking for, but it's a lot more effective for someone on the range with you to tell you "put your right hand here" then moving your hand there, than it would be for the internet to give you the same advice.

Although if you can find a youtube video of someone firing whatever you decide to go with left handed, that could be useful as well.

Also I think left handed rifles might be sort of hard to find. But if you could settle for a pistol a walther p22 is ambidextrous. I like that gun but I recommend seeing and holding it in person before you get it, for some people it's way way too small.

Also it's not just the action, but if the ejection port is on the right side and you're holding it with your left hand the empty cartridge case is going to hit you in the face.

Rabbid, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but-

I think the OP is going to a range to RENT a weapon. His selection is limited to (surprise!) what the range has available. Most places don't carry left-handed anything, and I see little reason to think this range is any different.

And yes, the ejection port is a concern, but I'd rather risk the casing alone than the bolt lever scooping out my eyeball, and THEN getting hit in the face with a casing.

But if you're just looking to have fun yeah lever-action rifles are fun. And if they offer shooting clays with shotguns that's even better in my opinion. Plus I don't think it matters which hand you use with an over under shotgun.

Well, if you're a fucking millionaire, you could buy a minigun, or a Browning .50 cal machine gun. More seriously, though, a Barrett .50 caliber rifle is legal to own. They are my favorite sniper rifles, and if I had the money, I would totally buy one just so I could tell people I have a sniper rifle that can gib you without a second thought. A really good rifle you could buy is the classic M1 Garand. If I'm not mistaken, it's a .30-06 round and is accurate as hell. It also makes a really satisfying "pa-ting," when you fire it. A personal favorite rifle of mine is the M14. My class in Black Ops is outfitted with a red M14 with ACOG scope and foregrip. These are all weapons to consider. If you want real firepower, you can buy a decommissioned tank for as little as $60,000. You can buy a British Daimler Ferret scout car for $16,000. There you go. Guns.

I haven't had any problems with casings, though I often shoot with my right hand or if it's with a handgun I tend to keep my arms out straight (ish), so it's no real problem.

Also does buying a gun and getting the ammo from the range, generally turn out cheaper over time?

Generally speaking, yes. It depends on the prices where you are and how often you plan on shooting, but with a high enough frequency and/or enough time, it'll be cheaper to buy your own.

That will also had the hassle of having to maintain it, and meeting whatever storage and licensing rules they have in your area.

Run the numbers and see.

Are they really charging that much to shoot? With most of those prices you could pay for the gun itself within 5 times of shooting at their range. Anyways... since you've shot a .40 cal Beretta I'd go with the Para .45. And the long guns they have dont really tickle my fancy soooo I'd go with the over/under shotgun.

As for rentals listed on the site there I recommend either of the .44mag rifles, that is one hell of a round that has stood the test of time. If your looking to buy a rifle yourself walmart actually carries m4a1 carbines from colt and smith and wesson as well as sig, in 5.56 calibur and .22lr caliber ranging from under 300 to just over 1000 us dollars... Those would be my choice personally because they are like honda civics, everywhere and easily tricked out.
