How about aliasing it to color instead?
'course, that tag is bit of a mess: underused, and there's several separate tags that probably should be combined. Such as colors and colored.
So I'm not sure if any of those are worth keeping.
(I once saw a system on another board where various color-tags were automatically added based on how many colors the image has. I wonder if the same would be possible here...)

I like the idea of all of the color tags being joined into one main tag. Would make things a lot more tidy.

w2hen would the color tag be necessary, though? Many posts are colored. The only time I'd see it as necessary is for edits, which already have their own tag, and comics.

The tag colors should be aliased to the tag color as they as the same, but they are(in my opinion) both invalid, because the tag is rarely used and is too obvious to be a tag.
Most posts here in e621 are in colors, using colors as a tag would be just useless. For posts that are different, there're many other color tags like monochrome and sepia.
If the post has many vibrant colors in it, it should be tagged with colorful.
If the post was previously an uncolored sketch/lineart, it should be tagged with colored.
I personally think that tags like color, colors and alternative_color should be invalid while tags like monochrome should be used more often.
I would strongly recommend posts with colors be tagged with "skin/fur/hair/eyes" character color tags.

I'm not sure why anyone would search for that, though. There's already the parent/child post linking for colored versions.. Seems pretty useless to me, and I think it should go in the same pile with color.

Could someone also find a full list of color tags?
I'll add black_and_white, grayscale, cool_colors, and warm_colors.
There is tag_group:colors which may or may not be out of date.

There're so many tags there left unused.

I agree fully with Genjar on this point. You make great points and I think that you've hit the nail on the head, but I don't think that the colored tag is necessary.

This is also good, but sadly I don't see many people using warm/cool_colors tags, its far too subjective... though I'll admit that it's something I've wished I could search. I dunno, torn on that one :P

Now that I think of it, I don't think it's necessary anymore as they only apply to posts that were sketches before.
Viewers can just see their child posts if there are any.

Hey-o. So we have these tags right now that still need a home:
While the first three are fairly useless by themselves, I was thinking about consolidating them into a more obvious tag. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
We would still likely need to invalidate color/colors/full_color since they're very messy, but something like this might be worth considering.

- colored (used for when color was added to a non-colored post)
- colorful (used for very colorful posts)

My thinking is that since we have tags like monochrome, etc we really have no need for a tag to specify color posts.
While colored and colorful are useful for the reasons you described, having a color tag for color posts to me is like the no_sound tag for posts with no sound (which is most posts), so my vote is still for invalidating color, colors and full_color.

Are we talking aliasing here? If not disregard what follows: Wouldn't that cause people to tag official colorings by the official artist as colored hence marking it as an edit? As I understand it edit is used when someone else edits an artists picture, at least that's what wiki states.

Alias, yes. I don't think it would work but it's worth mentioning (at least for cleanup).

I don't think there's anything else we can do with these tbh. I haven't invalidated them yet as there's still a lot of color edits stuck in there that need to be sorted. :/
On another note implying unknown_colorist -> color_edit would probably work too.

Just wanna throw uncolored in here (re my forum #161159), I would like it to be sorted out and get a proper definition and wiki.
