Has anyone else been experiencing extreme slowness, latency, or instability on this site to the point of being almost unusable this past week? I first noticed it when e6 went down completely about a week ago. Today in particular was rough, I was trying to browse a tag and add images to a private set and what would have normally taken me about 20 minutes took over 3 hours because the site has constantly been hitting these massive snags where it'll take 5+ minutes to load the next page, load the set list (mind you I have like 5 sets; I've only just begun using the feature), or it'll say the image is "pending" to be added to the set and then give up and not add it. It's one thing for the site to go completely down, but the rampant latency and nothing about it in the forums is a bit troubling.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is the staff aware? Could it be something on my end and if so, how do I resolve it?

Also not totally sure what category to put it in. It's about e621 the website but it's not exactly a bug report. I consider the e621 web frontend to be an application so I guess this cat is as good as any. Apologies, I don't post in the forums very often.

Yep, happening for me too. Sometimes pages load fine, other times it just sits and spins forever and never loads. I have to keep clicking every 5-10 seconds until it finally decides to load.

i've also been getting totally random hang-up here, around 1/3 of any link i click

granted, i haven't gotten any stalls as bad as 5+ minutes long. tho i tend to get pretty impatient with them and just click on a different link if i get something bad, and any time i did have to wait it's been less than a minute tops

Been noticing this as well. Actions randomly not going through, and things suddenly taking minutes to load and so on.

common occurrence for large sites. While we may
not know for sure until a mod-peep pops by,
DDoS'er(s) are a pretty safe bet, Dood =P

It's not like this wasn't a thing long before generative AI tools went mainstream. You can read stories from 2019 or earlier talking about these things where they rent hundreds or thousands of servers. The ones that repeat the same requests over and over follow Poe's law: It's not clear rather that's malicious or just stupid.

I was noticing this lately, and I'm in Canada. I also think mass downloading of favorites could be a culprit. Now that everybody's had the wake up call and learned the only way to make sure the art you like is safe is to have it offline on your harddrive.

That's actually not a bad idea. I might consider doing that myself, but not right now cause I don't want to be part of the problem.

No, that's not it. The impact of a few people mass-downloading stuff is largely irrelevant.
As long as you are not exceeding the rate limit (2 requests per second), you should be fine.

There were actually a couple unrelated issues that intersected at just the right time.
Should be mostly fixed right now.

A good idea is to do it only for images not available where you're reuploading them, if you are worrying about that.

With my slowfi Internet, it's more like 1 post every 2 seconds and it still would swamp my connection. I wish I could do 2 per second. I am able to go fast if I disable images or do something like tag scripts, though.

Experiencing intermittent issues loading images since Hurricane Beryl, one minute they'd load fine, then they slow to either a crawl or fail to load altogether. Gut intuition says it's something to do with Cloudflare and the datacenters down here in Texas after Beryl cacked the infrastructure in Houston.

From australia here, I've also noticed that its extremely slow, and its not my wifi or my internet plan (or computer for that matter).

Sites hosted in similar regions don't seem to have the same amount of lag.

It now takes almost 2 minutes to load a single page, and usually it hasn't even finished loading all the images. its like the site has become a bit usable for that reason.
