The tag implication #63348 wolfman_(avatar) -> canid is pending approval.

Reason: Went through some posts and tagged some Blender/3D things using this model.

Although Wolf is in the name, the nature of modifiable 3D Avatars means that simply implicating it to "wolf" would not be accurate, as there are things called Blendshapes that allow the model to look like a Wolf, or a Worgen or a Lion. As well as other more custom variants that have the model depicted as other canine species such as a Doberman, or sometimes with more draconic features such as wings and demonic horns, etc.

However I think Canid is a good basis for this as the model itself gives off a generally Canid appearance. The modified versions are an exception to the rule and not a baseline of the fact that the base model is very wolf or canine-like.

1: I'm still of the opinion that we shouldn't be tagging individual models, rather model creators if needed, nor should they be treated as characters since they can be used to portray other characters, so it should be aliased to something like dovero_(modeler) if not invalidated.
2: wolfman_(avatar) is a very generic name that can refer to any wolf humanoid or anthro that's used as someone's avatar, so is an ambiguous tag name.
3: Why is it in the Copyright category?

the tag originally was just a general tag, i changed it to copyright since i assumed it would fit best (im not that experienced with these kinds of things).
As for the name being generic, the model itself is named The Wolfman, i don't know of any others that use that specific name.

Someone else had made the tag wolfman_(avatar) but i wouldnt know what else to change it to, i just added the wiki and added the tag for a few more posts,unless something like "Dovero_Wolfman" would work, i noticed that there's a WinterPaw_Canine tag too referring to the Winterpaw canine model. but i dont know if this is considered correct either.

On top of that, there may be multiple versions of the same model

Take the Rexouium model. There's currently 3 common versions of the model:

• The 'Original' by Rezillo Ryker
• Evolved by Tosca
• EvoRex HD also by Tosca (kindof a v2 of Evolved)

All three of which look very similar and are likely prone to mistagging. Even if we made individual tags (e.g. rexouium_(avatar), rexouium_evolved_(avatar)), most would probably just end up using the first
Most of the differences between those are in texture details and features like facial expression morphs and body adjustment sliders.
Not to mention the spinoff versions like Pooltoy , Low Poly , Construct

Also, there could be multiple models of the same species that, while visually distinct, could technically all fall under the same *_(avatar) tag.

Third point, there's also the issue of using the same suffix between social game avatars and Avatar: The Last Airbender characters (e.g. momo_(avatar), appa_(avatar)

If it's an actual character, it can be changed to something like wolfman_(dovero) or the_wolfman_(dovero) and set as a character tag, and treated as a regular character (so shouldn't imply a species in case of alternate_species, or be tagged when the same model's used to depict a different character since it's not the same character, and can be tagged without the model or with a different model as long as the depiction is meant to be the character). Otherwise, if it's just a model and not a specific character, only the modeler should be tagged IMO, not the specific model.

There had been a few cases of models getting tagged as characters throughout the years, without any real discussion on the matter. Somewhat recently there had been discussion on tagging individual models, but despite no formal consensus to do it being reached and a number of issues raised with it, there was a larger effort to tag many more models as characters. A recent forum topic brought the issue up again and is starting to remove the individual model tags.
