I am looking for a program, plugin, or site script, that will intercept the "Download" link, and automatically grab all the image's tags off the page for sorting my downloaded images.

I've done some searching, but it appears that most if not all tools out there are focused around bulk downloading. I do not want this. In fact, I prefer the "one by one" approach.

What I want to happen is when I click "download", the post's tags are automatically added to the metadata of the file as it is saved so that they can be catalogued and searched by programs and in fact windows itself. In windows you can find these tags either though an image's properties, or through the infobar. But these two options are highly cumbersome.

I am looking into image tagging software that does this for files already in my possession, but I would much prefer to preserve the contributions of users on this site's users instead of redoing all that work manually.

I am wondering if this exists for sites built around the same core as e621. Is there a solution that also works for the "primary" furry art sites? Would someone be willing to work on something like this if not?

Well, I'm currently writing a Java Application for fun...
It's supposed to fetch post tags and local paths, providing basic e621 search functionality and image viewer for downloaded pictures
The complete post collection stored as XML will probably take ~ 300MB (I didn't fully download it yet...)

I've written a program where I click-drag programs into a file explorer window and it scans and tags them. It's pretty rough, but if you're interested, I could clean it up a bit and upload it. I also made an automatic checker for my favorite artists, but I don't know if that's technically allowed since e621 only provides that feature with upgraded accounts.

I'd be happy to try all of these, if possible.

So thats what I could do:

My Toolbox is for Downloading Pages with tags, and pools. I can rewrite it so all downloaded images will have the tags in it that it is tagged with the tags on here. And the tags will be saved in the Images metadata.

Hope you kinda know what I mean sorry for the bad language, english isn't my first one :P

@Aquilux, you might benefit from reviewing this forum thread about offline organization . In particular, it points out that Windows' tagging support only works on certain file types (which includes jpg, but doesn't include png) by default, and additional software is needed for more complete support.
