Topic: Tools on mobile that can convert webp to png? Or why misskey sucks?

Posted under General

Want some quick and lean apps that can do it on my phone because my PC is broken at the moment, there are stuff on misskey that I want to mirror but they are posted as a webp...

Also man misskey sucks...I have to open it using another stance because it uses so much RAM and their layout is just too damn "loud" and ofc their usage of webp.

https://e621.net/help/supported_filetypes topic #22506 On adding support. Yeah, it's long past time that it be supported, especially in cases where it's the only source. Are you SURE there's no PNG source? https://developers.google.com/speed/webp/gallery2 They can also be lossless or lossy. You'll have to examine the image file's metadata to find that out.

That is one scary UI at https://misskey.art/ !

Viewed some random images like this one and they seem to have lossless WEBP there. In most cases, you can just use a tool like IrfanView or some command-line equivalent to do a batch conversion of a folder with them to PNG, and get no losses. We'd ideally have the source format but it's not supported yet. :(

Datawise, it's 8-bits-per-color-plane and PNG supports 24-bit color. Tried converting to PNG and both are 256 unique colors, and almost exactly the same size.
