Topic: I accidentally uploaded a duplicate post

Posted under General

I was running through and uploading an artist's backlog of artwork but I managed to slip up and it seems I posted artwork that was previously posted. I thought this wasn't possible because the site seems to check for duplicates before uploading but I think because they are from different sources it didn't catch it and I didn't realize what had happened until afterward. I'm not really sure what to do so I'm posting this here hoping a mod can delete my posts for me because they are redundant.

my posts

and these are the old ones from 4 months before me

I apologize for the inconvenience and I'll be more careful in the future.

You can flag your posts as being duplicates when situations like this happen, it's happened to me a few times too don't worry :P

But in this case you should instead flag the older posts, because yours are actually higher quality (PNGs rather than JPGs).

Make sure that the PNGs actually are superior (they usually are). I've seen cases where higher-resolution JPEGs are actually upscaled from the PNGs and thus had lossy artifacting, but hypothetically, if the PNG has those same artifacts, you have to question what someone was doing (it's incredibly rare to get PNGs made from JPEG). I started comparing metadata like EXIF on those ancient original-source-dead-years images in such cases. But if you know for a fact like in case of being artist, it's an obvious choice every single time.
