what the pic in vestenet's tweet says:

the porn blanket ban looms ever closer! didn't know i was born and raised in a communist HELL! but i guess i've lived long enough for the US to become china!

but HEY! i guess someone is FINALLY thinking of the POOR INNOCENT PIXELS...by treating fiction as if it's the EXACT SAME as irl people.

the slope is not slippery. it's a damn CLIFF we've been pushed off of!

It says the law of ANY country.
This content is illegal in some places so it's easier to just blanket ban it rather then do a bunch of shit with geo location and filtering.

Also all of your posts and comments have been inflammatory.

"When are you gonna talk about your new AI mod"

In the video games BRU

this thread is pissing me off[...] you guys seriously believe that the people using this website lack both a functioning brain and more than two brain cells to rub together.

For free content guess Baraag will be the new place, subscribestar was already an alternative to Patreon but it's not rare to take ages for them to greenlight your account, also it will make harder for people of these countries to buy new fanboxes and booth stuff so this will make life harder for artists of any country (Japan mostly) there trying to make a buck...

This just sucks overall, and don't go "meh this will just be bad for cub artist" in the rules there is already bullshit about "consent" that's also happening with Patreon and we know that they will not stop there.

They've already been starting that though- you can just set your location to Japan to turn it off. They don't check/care. Honestly if I were a foreign art site I wouldn't want to deal with us either.

This change only affects users whose Country/Region is set to the US or UK.
Other users will not be affected by this change in Terms of Use.

Old news, they blocked this content in the US/UK as of last December, the only meaningful change is that US/UK people can't post content they shouldn't be able to view anyways and it's now officially against TOS to lie about your location.
Probably because the "just change your location in settings" workaround got too popular.

When registering User's country or region of residence, User shall register Users own true, accurate, and current information.

We'll see if they actually give a fuck, though, given that rules-as-written are ultra-broad nonsense. "Lewd" means all NSFW of any kind, "violates any law" means all fanart of copyrighted properties, etc.

true

isn't this like, really old news? they've already been blocking people from some regions from accessing that content since like, December.

Yeah, the OP seems to be going a bit over top. I mean, it sucks but an OMG CHINA COMING FOR MY PORN analogy is hyperbole. If anything, it's the people from NoFap.

That was my first thought. "Isn't this already a post?" post #41716 Well, imagine that!

Wink-wink nudge nudge, not enforced geofencing, but they probably won't be blocking VPNs and data centers, either. I have not actually seen that states in any updates to TOS that they actually check. Time will tell, but it feels like Pixiv is already going Tumblr. *edit*

Article 7 Section 3: When performing the application specified in Paragraph 2, User shall provide to the Company User’s own true, accurate, and current information as Registered Information

You realize that libel tourism is a thing, right? Anything attacking a head of state's reputation is also illegal in quite a lot of places. The perils of being international corporation. :shrugs: There's a reason that we can effectively ignore those, though.

After looking again no. They're updating the POSTING tos from those regions, and in language that is so vague and nebulous that it's obscene to an average person, violating itself. So artists will have to lie about their location to post, well, theoretically anything remotely NSFW, based on nothing but pixiv's feelings... and if they want to use fanbox lying about their location could be used as an excuse to not pay out, and... Basically they have said that US and UK nsfw artists can just be banned at any time for any reason.

is that new? because I've already seen a few artists over the past few months having some trouble with Pixiv in regards to loli/shota content.

The new terms aren't just about loli/shota, the new terms also require US and UK users not to:

3. post any content depicting non-consensual sexual activity (including “deepfake” images), revenge porn, blackmail, intimidation, snuff, torture, death, violence, incest, racial slurs, or hate speech,(either orally or via the written word).
4. post any content that is obscene, illegal, unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, libelous, abusive, lewd, invasive of personal privacy or publicity rights, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, or is otherwise inappropriate.
5. post any content that appeals to the prurient interest, is patently offensive in light of community standards where you are located or where such content may be accessed or distributed, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value, or otherwise violates any applicable obscenity laws, rules or regulations.

non-twitter source since it hasn't been posted yet, what I'm quoting is behind the first link on that announcement.

Good luck with that. Unless their goal is to push away US and UK users, and be primarily for Japanese creators like they used to be.
