on the tag for incest_(lore) it says "However, if the artist does state that the characters aren't related, their interpretation overrides canon." isnt this a problem? for people looking to blacklist or search i dont think an artists statement should override what would otherwise be incest.

nope, this is how all other lore tags work, and keeping it consistent across all tags in this category is for the best.

the chance that an artist decides to make two characters that are always treated as related in canon not in something they made is probably lower than the mistag rate anyway.

IIRC, that’s the primary rule on most lore tags where canon except for the artist’s own canon isn’t supposed to be factored in at all.

It's mainly to follow the lore of the most recent "creator", this supersedes the lore of the original characters that they were based upon.
E.g., Mario & Luigi are fraternal brothers based on the original canon, but say I created a whole comic based on my headcanon that they weren't real brothers but adopted. In that case, my canon would supersede that of the original canon and it won't be considered incest should they have a relationship.

It would however be considered pseudo-incest.

Also, there's weird TWYS oddities like the several pictures of Queen Chrysalis from MLP turning into Twilight Sparkle, lol.
