Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: scp-1471 -> scp-1471-a

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #67814 scp-1471 -> scp-1471-a has been approved.

Reason: Yes I am aware that these are separate entities, 1471 is the app and 1471-A is the creature. However, despite the wiki making the distinction between the two, at the time of this request every image tagged with one of these has the other. In theory "scp-1471" should only be tagged on images that contain a phone that exclusively shows the actual app (not just a photo of 1471-A), but the two are essentially treated as the same thing. The problem is that fixing the problem of 1471's rampant mistagging would require manually going through 3.4 thousand images to see which ones just show the app and not the creature, which I think would be very few images, if any. Even if that was done, I find it likely that people are going to tag 1471-A as 1471 (Hell, Malo isn't even the name of the creature, it's the name of the app) so I think it would be best to simply combine the two and maybe create an "scp-1471_(app)" tag for the very rare cases where just the app needs to be tagged

EDIT: The tag alias scp-1471 -> scp-1471-a (forum #395613) has been approved by @slyroon.

if we deem a tag for the app itself necessary it probably ought to hsve a separate tag with a disambiguating suffix to make its purpose clear.

I attempted a cleanup of these a while ago, but discovered the tags were consistently misused and it really wasn't worth it. Someone also went behind me and added all the tags back that I removed.

I agree we definitely need to alias them all together, and choose a more distinct tag name for the app, if needs be.

Mal0 definitely needs to go. I'd be fully in support of aliasing both SCP-1471 and Mal0 to SCP-1471-A, they all get used interchangeably for the same character.

Some have said there are different "versions" of the character but I addressed that in this topic.
