Topic: Constantly unable to see any search results

Posted under General

For the last week or so, all search results bring up a completely blank page or only allow me to see a handful of images before being completely blank again, regardless of how many page refreshes I do, or how much time has passed. No images, no animations. Turning on my VPN does nothing either. The only possibility of seeing anything is looking at pages that are already cached. Using my phone or the app works fine, it's just specifically my computer.
Other web browsers seem to work fine, but I use chrome for everything. I would hate to have to use edge or firefox specifically to use e621. I've disabled all my extensions, cleared the cache multiple times, reset my network adapter, logged out and back in, nothing works. I don't think it's a server issue because I don't see anyone talking about it at all.

I'm also thinking it could be due to the new law going around regarding blocking people from accessing a nsfw porn website, but I haven't gotten any message asking for proof of ID, and putting the VPN in states that currently don't have this law, still does nothing.

When you check the other browsers, do you sign in, or leave it signed out?

I've loaded the website both ways and it works on other browsers.
Like right now, I'm replying and making this message and the images for the pfp's are just straight up not loading. Clicking on your profile shows no images.

have you tried logging out/using a private tab to view the site on Chrome? does that show up normal?

Almost feels like an extension issue since it's for a specific browser. Might want to isolate it to specific ones being off to troubleshoot. Other thing that seems obvious is CDN issues but that would be bypassed with VPN or we'd ALL be experiencing it.

Oh wait, this sounds like an old issue from the last major revision to the site. Because of how blacklist works, specific JS has to be run to add it back to the DOM. It was done this way because people blocking that specific code would have non-functional blacklists. Not sure if it still works this way, though. They might have found a different solution.

Don't ask me how i know this, but files are hosted on a different webserver from e6's. Try to seee if you can get any response from that server or if it is blocked in some way. You could be getting 4xx errors like the dreaded 403 forbidden and that could be the root cause of the issue.

They wrote above your head that they tried to disable every extension, addon, plugin yada yada and it still didn't solve the issue.

I see that now.

It being just one browser though... Some use their own DNS services. Also, they could have accidentally enabled something like Opera does. Clearing cache and restarting browser and making a new profile are all somewhat obvious solutions but yeah, this is weird.

So I never really got a way to fix it on chrome, so I moved over to opera GX, which is chromium based, specifically for looking at E621 stuff. Still don't know whats up with Chrome disallowing all images.
I even removed all my blacklist to see if it was fixed, and nothing changed.
So idk.
