I feel like this should be a tag, but I can't find it.
You can read up on why it is invalidated over at topic #21404
There's interrupted orgasm to replace it.
Should have been moved to the invalid category instead of aliasing to invalid_tag, since there is a valid replacement. This is a very common kink
The bulk update request #7053 is active.
remove alias ruined_orgasm (0) -> invalid_tag (1)

I believe the only way to invalidate a tag back then was aliasing it to invalid_tag, but now we have the luxury to correct it properly
Followup:
category ruined_orgasm -> invalid
Alternatively:
We can keep ruined_orgasm as a tag. But either way we'll need to unalias it from invalid tag.

Indeed, the invalid category only started existing in March 2020
To be honest, I think invalidating it at all seems weird. It literally just needed some cleanup and a better wiki page. This is THE name for a pretty common kink (warning for nsfw photos in the first link). Nobody calls it "interrupted orgasm", making it a more ambiguous name as it could refer to any kind of interruption. Yes, there's more than one way for an outsider to interpret "ruin", but everyone with this kink, everyone who's going to be searching for it, knows what that phrase means. But they won't know what interrupted_orgasm means or even be able to find the tag easily.
Tagging philosophy has changed since 6 years ago. Can we bring back this tag? I'm rewriting the wiki page right now.

It has been moved to the invalid category, but what is the current public sentiment towards the tag? Could it potentially be brought back without the same issues that plagued it before?

The bulk update request #7335 is pending approval.
change category ruined_orgasm (0) -> general
create alias interrupted_orgasm (316) -> ruined_orgasm (0)
Reason: Let's bring it back then!
'Interrupted orgasm' is much clearer, just keep it as it is. Nobody who isn't already into the kink seems to know how to properly tag 'ruined orgasm', as evident from the mess it was before the rename.
Though the new tag's pretty messy too:
post #4303443 post #4664086, etc.
Additionally, hands-free orgasm shouldn't automatically imply 'ruined' orgasm, and this should not be tagged for cases where the receiver doesn't seem unhappy about it. You can achieve good orgasms even with practice and muscle control alone, zero touch needed. There's also quite a few posts that are clearly after sex, with no indication of ruined orgasm.

"Interrupted orgasm" sounds like it can be misinterpreted to mean someone who was caught during orgasm, not that the orgasm was stopped prematurely or "ruined".

Yes, see also spontaneous_ejaculation, anal_orgasm, etc. A character can have a pleasurable and fulfilling orgasm without direct stimulation of their penis.

Yes, and it's currently tagged for some of those. But so was ruined_orgasm. As in, ruined by someone walking in when someone's masturbating, etc. Not sure what'd be the optimal solution so this'd stop being a mess...
And to be fair, even those sites define ruined orgasm as such: Ruined orgasms don’t always happen on purpose. Maybe you’ve had one unintentionally when your solo or partnered stroke sesh got rudely interrupted. Phone ringing was listed as an example. So no wonder it gets tagged for that.
So to make it less of a mess, I suppose the first step would be to figure out what even counts as 'ruined orgasm'. If you're cumming and someone happens to knock on the door just then, distracting you, does that count for the tag? (These kink sites certainly seem to think that it does.) Or is it just someone intentionally stopping at the end, and ruining it that way? That'd make for more sensible tag (without much of the walk_in etc. included), but hard to enforce.
