Topic: The problem with "what a good time to log in!" type of comments.

Posted under General

Here I'm giving my opinion about those "What a good time to log in" type of comments:

It's kinda become to this site what "first!" comments are on YouTube.

at least on YouTube those get buried by newer and higher rated comments. while here comments are exclusively ordered oldest first, so "i piked the perfect time to log in" is the literal first thing you see when looking at comments for some posts. (which is now so redundant / annoying / pointless)

It's a problem because generally nobody cares that you were lucky enough to log on to see this animation and comment before everybody else. It's also pretty annoying and not very useful to say. In fact it is actually saying "first" without saying "first" as much as it is saying "I like this" if we're going by implications.

That's what I think about this type of comment, you can share your opinion if you want too. For me I'm done saying my point of view.

This is the exact reason I don't like memes, It's a template that people copy and paste for easy returns. It's lazy, It's lazy commenting, Dood =‿=;)~★

I can totally see where you're coming from, Honestly, if there was just a bit of extra to it like saying "Why" you like the piece or something would be good, Dood.

But just saying "what a good time to log in!" full stop makes a peep wonder if they mean it or are just copying and pasting the comment purely for upvotes from a post that's getting a serge of upvotes themselves, Dood.
=P

I don't see the point of those comments even if they weren't overdone. It's not like posts go away, at least most of the time! It would have still been there if you logged in later. Do people only look at new posts or something?

You're dropped to the most recent posts when logging in, so it would be what you first see. I get the sentiment, getting to see like a dagasi post for me the moment I log in feels nice and convenient. Over done and annoying sure, but understandable honestly.

I don't mind them at all. They are glad to see someone's art uwu.

ehh, I dunno. I feel like if you like a piece you could probably come up with something a little bit more, like-- pertinent to say.

I mean, sometimes I click on posts from the post listings just because it has some comments on it and I want to see what people are saying, quite a lot of the time the comments are just kinda inane fluff, both on the "great time to log in!!~" and "how is this allowed??" ends of the spectrum... it's just pretty disappointing.

E621 comments everyone. What'd you expect?

Detailed comments going into how you feel about the piece are amazing and Give inspiration to the artist and Viewer alike, Dood!

Short Sound bites like "Great time to log in!!~" and "How is this allowed??" are...Well-

There's nothing you can do with that but agree or disagree.
Turns expression into a Yes or No Question with votes being the reply.
Guess the reason peeps don't reply to those kinda replies is there's nothing
to work with when just voting Yay or Nay with a button will do just fine.
Kinda hollow, Dood

More actually, Expect less get less, Expect more get more.
Honestly, I wonder if "What a good time to log in!"
would count as Spam seeing that peeps post it
word for word every time, Dood.

honestly, I'd expect a website populated exclusively by adults to at least be better than the average YouTube comment sections. I know that we're currently the largest furry-focued website around and also that adult website comments are often pretty dogshit in general, but as a community we should want better...

and like, I know that it's possible to have decent comment sections on websites like ours, because ExH/E-H has more than two times as many users and the comments there are generally pretty great. I guess maybe it's the fact that the website is more focused on comics/series/whatever rather than individual images encorages better discussion, maybe it's something to do with how the comment voting system works, and how you can see each individual that +/- voted each comment and how much MP they have, or maybe it's cultural, I guess weebs might just be more sophisticated than furries.

Does it matter? They are annoying maybe, but it's not like they're rude or anything. I can easily ignore them, but if you find them really bothersome, you can set your comment threshold to not allow comments with a score under 0 to be visible to you, as more often than not these (comments) will be downvoted.

ah, you see, we don't just get adults, but teenagers as young as what, 12? dodging the ban hammer (You know it's true)

doubt it, ever seen KTS?

I guess weebs might just be more sophisticated than furries.

I believe in the vice versa honestly

I swear somebody suggested to add it on the list of spam example

If it was added, We could stop the spread
of that one copy-and-pasted comment altogether.

It'd no longer be a thing we'd have to deal with,
Shrugging and saying "Eh it's not so bad."

Honestly, This may be one of the rare cases where
a few moments and a few words 'could' fix the
problem better than just dealing with it. It's a
problem we don't 'have' to deal with, with just
a little clarification on an already-established
and enforced rule, Dood
